Yearlong Programs

  • LGBT Visitor Center

  • The LGBT Visitor Center is a place where LGBT travelers and residents can obtain vital information about planning a trip, accessing an interactive community event calendar, experience the work of LGBT artists and attend events, seminars and networkers. Through the Visitor Center, the larger LGBT community is connected with the businesses and organizations that will assist any traveler in planning a fulfilling experience in Miami Beach. A hotel reservation portal is offered through the Center’s website that ensures the traveler and LGBT friendly experience. In addition, a calendar is updated by the organization to provide a comprehensive listing of events that are happening to better inform the prospective traveler about what activities they can participate in once in Miami Beach.

Miami Beach Guest Program

The Miami Beach Guest Program is comprised of the new Miami Beach Visitors Center at the Miami Beach Convention Center (Hall C), MiamiBeachGuest.com, and the Miami Beach IN Card. The Center currently responds to over thousands of inquiries each year regarding vacation planning, tours, complaint resolution and much more.  The Center works closely with the City of Miami Beach, the GMCVB, and other tourist related entities to ensure that their resources on promoting the destination are coordinated and maximized. Services currently offered by the Center and through MiamiBeachGuest.com include over 25 daily tours, guided bus yours, and Segway tours. Additional tours include Art Deco walking tours, “From SoBe to HoBe” or “The Big Square”, featuring south, mid and north beaches, creating and organizing customized group/convention tours, providing over 100 brochures, maps, guides, newspaper, and travel related publications, assisting in public transportation information, assisting new Miami Beach residents, and mailing of tourist and relocation packages throughout the world.

Miami Beach Watersports Center

The Center kicks off each season in October with a major rowing race, the largest major rowing race of its kind in Florida. Other activities include winter & spring camp and regattas, summer camps, and various programs for youth and adults. The Center is recognized as a national and international training facility.

The Customer and You – Certificate Program in Service

This program will provide its participants with the opportunity to participate in a 4-hour program to gain skills needed in customer service. The program will be offered free of charge and will also provide potential Miami Beach employers with employees who have already obtained the skills needed to improve their customer service. The program is a result of a partnership with Florida International University who will be providing the instructor for the course as well as all of the course materials. A total of 16 half day training sessions will be offered on a monthly basis with approximately 25 participants per training with four extra sessions in the fall; for a total of 400 participants. Approximately 5-6 of the training sessions will be held at the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Tourist Hospitality Center

The purpose of the Tourist Hospitality Center is to provide direct visitor assistance.  A wide range of visitor information and assistance is offered. The Center’s revamped website will be an effective online marketing tool that will attract visitors to Miami Beach. The Center, in its sixteenth year of operations, continues to address thousands of tourist inquiries while showcasing Miami Beach’s highest ranking attractions and promoting hotels, restaurants other available services.

November 2012

Pan American Internationals

  • This 2-day event, taking place November 9 - 10, 2012, is one of the largest and most prestigious martial arts events in the world today.  The event was established in 1980 and has become one of the best sport karate tournaments in the world, attracting competitors from around the world.  Competitions will take place in 3 different ballrooms within the host hotel with several match rings set up within each ballroom.

NASCAR Championship Drive

  • The NASCAR Championship Drive, taking place November 15 - 16, 2012, is a fan-friendly program of events for NASCAR fans to celebrate the end of the NASCAR season in Miami Beach with thousands of other fans from throughout the country leading into the Ford Championship races at Homestead-Miami Speedway. NASCAR Championship Drive features a two-day fan festival, outdoor concert, NASCAR vehicle parade and multiple hospitality programs. NASCAR Championship Drive is returning in 2012 for its third year in the City of Miami Beach and plans to return annually.

28th Anniversary of White Party Week-Muscle Beach

  • White Party Week, celebrating its 28th anniversary and taking place November 19 - 26, 2012, will feature cultural and musical events that attract between 10,000 and 15,000 attendees from around the world each year. Muscle Beach party is a dance-barefoot-in-the-sand party that takes place during the week of these prestigious events.  A total of 12 events are expected to take place in Miami Beach and include a fashion event, Madonna concert after-party, a bowling event, White Martini social event, Welcome Center Mixer, Dance Event, Pool Parties, Block Party, Cirque Blanc, Muscle Beach, and Swan Song.

December 2012

UNTITLED. Art Fair

  • UNTITLED is a new format for an international art fair, taking place December 3 - 9, 2012.  A world class international contemporary art fair created for the residents of Miami Beach. UNTITLED is an innovation of the traditional art fair model placing emphasis on the quality of the viewer’s experience and the contextualization of the artworks exhibited. Additional events are expected to include a gala fundraiser for the Bass Museum and a gala for the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce.

2012-2013 Discover Orange Bowl Game, Discover BCS National Championship and Ancillary Events

  • This year’s Discover Orange Bowl game will be played on Wednesday, January 1st and the Discover BCS National Championship game  will be played on January 7th, both at Sun Life Stadium in Miami–Dade County, and will be televised on ESPN and broadcast through ESPN Radio and XM Satellite Radio. Events surrounding the games, taking place between December 26, 2012 and January 8, 2013, are expected to include Team Airport Arrivals, Team Welcome Receptions, Team Beach Parties, Team Family Outings, Coaches’ Outings (breakfasts, lunches, and dinners), a pre-game party, beach parties, Game Day Fan Zone, Orange Bowl Rhapsody, the Discover BCS National Championship and the Discover Orange Bowl.

January 2013

ING Miami Marathon and Half Marathon and Tropical 5K

On the 10th anniversary of the ING Miami Marathon and Half Marathon and Tropical 5k, a full marathon (26.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles) and Tropical 5K (3.1 miles) are taking place on the streets of Miami and Miami Beach, January 27 - 29, 2012. Events are also expected to include a press conference, health and fitness expo, a pre-race party on Miami Beach and a VIP dinner at the Setai. A one hour recorded highlight/recap show of the event will air on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) to approximately 18 million viewers across 13 states through Xfinity On Demand.

NATPE Market & Conference 2013

  • NATPE is the global content marketplace for a digital world. The annual Market & Conference, taking place January 28 - 30, 2013, is the only American program market serving the worldwide television/content community. This affordable 3 day conference is recognized throughout the world as a key media event. Events will include a welcome party, the NATPE Content First Market & Global Conference, an Opening Night/50th Anniversary Party, and Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award Reception & Ceremony.

Media Conference "Bridge to the World 2013"

  • “The Bridge to the World” Conference, taking place January 30 - February 3, 2013, provides independent filmmakers the information they need to get their projects green-lighted within the film and television business, bringing three continents together, Asia, Europe & America. This year they have added women-specific competitions GMW-Great Goddess Mujer Women, due to the non-existence of good content for women. Events will include an opening cocktail, 3 days of pitching sessions and workshops, two venue parties, and an award gala ceremony.

 

February 2013

Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show & Strictly Sail

  • This 5 day event entering its 72nd year and taking place February 14 - 18, 2013, will occupy over 2.5 million gross square feet of exhibit space and will attract approximately 105,000 people to the destination. It is the primary boat and accessory sales event in the world. In addition to the exhibiting of over 2,000 companies and 3,000 boats, events are expected to include over 50 seminars and presentations on a variety of industry- related topics.

2013 Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival

  • The 4-day Festival, taking place February 21  - 24, 2013, will showcase celebrities and top names in the culinary, wine and spirits industries. Televised programming specials on national TB via the Food Network will reach an estimated 100 million households, and the Festival's marketing plan over 6 months will generate at least 1.7 billion impressions. The Festival showcases Miami Beach as a first class destination which offers a wealth of culture, arts, beaches, and nightlife. A total of 14 event have been added to the roster of events in 2013.

March 2013

Miami International Film Festival

  • This festival in its 30th year and taking place March 1 - 10, 2013, brings the best of world cinema to South Florida.  This year the Festival will introduce two new components to fully integrate into the fabric of Miami Beach’s visitor and resident community: A Red Carpet experience at Regal Cinemas South Beach and Lee Brian’s Schrager’s Culinary Cinema, held exclusively in Miami Beach. The Festival is expected to feature a program which will include over 180 public film screenings of over 100 films and 150 events to an audience of over 70,000 while promoting Miami Beach as a place do to film business through its Industry. Other events include filmmaker and film society “Meet and Greet”, celebrity events, Meet the Talent Sessions and VIP receptions. Over 80% of Festival events will take place on Miami Beach.

Winter Party Festival

  • This event, taking place March 6 - 11, 2013, is a five day celebration of social and cultural events targeted at the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) community.   A total of 25 events are expected to include a welcome reception, beach party, women’s’ events, pool party, in-store events on Lincoln Road, and several events at area nightclubs.   The festival is expected to draw attendees from around the US, as well as, Canada, Europe, South American, and Australia.

Allstate Life Insurance 13.1 Marathon Miami Beach

  • This event is a half marathon, taking place March 9, 2013, that will consist of 13.1 miles, of which 100% of the route will take participants through Miami Beach and. The marathon will be one of eight races taking place throughout the country to include Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale, Minneapolis, Dallas, and Boston. This race is the first of its kind encouraging its participants to travel to the other cities that make up the nine race series. Other events will include a 5K and a Michelob Ultra Beer Garden as part of the post-race events. The event is expected to be broadcast through Comcast Sports; however, contract negotiations are still in place.

Winter Music Conference, 28th Annual

  • This event, in its 28th year, was established in 1985 as a forum for the advancement of the music industry. It is now one of the most publicized annual music gatherings in the world. The event, taking place March 15 - 24, 2013, attracts the world’s most lauded and innovative artists and industry delegates from over 70 countries as well as DJs, accredited journalists, and nearly 100,000 attendees to participate in over 500 events to include seminars, panels, workshops and performance events in 89 venues on Miami Beach, over the 10-day event.

Miami Fashion Week

  • This event celebrating its 15th year, and taking place March 20 - 24, 2013, is the largest international and Latin American fashion event in the US attracting thousands of attendees including fashion and jewelry designers/brands. Model buyers, global press, celebrities, government officials and international VIP fashionistas. Over 650 international press and over 50 of the world’s top and emerging fashion designers will be participating in nightly runway fashion shows and a jewelry and accessories exhibition.  Other events will include fashion shows, educational seminars, kick-off parties, designer welcoming party, and nightly afterglow events. The event will be televised on Fashion TV generating over 4 billion in viewership.

April 2013

The ADC 92nd Annual Awards + Festival of Art and Craft in Advertising and Design

  • The ADC 92nd Annual Awards + Festival of Art and Craft in Advertising and Design will be centralized in Miami’s South Beach on April 2 - 4, 2013. This event honors the very best in design work; the craft. The festival will be comprised of hands-on, interactive, creative workshops throughout each day, parties at the W South Beach and Shore Club by night, and the Annual Awards Gala celebration.  In addition, they will be working with the Miami Beach Convention Center to curate an exhibition of design and advertising work.

  • Nautica South Beach Triathlon
  • This event, in its 6th year in Miami Beach, is a premier event in the sport of triathlon and will span three days from April 5 - 7, 2013. The event will culminate in a Classic Distance and an International Distance race on Sunday. With worldwide recognition, the event draws professional and amateur athletes as well as prominent celebrities from 47 different states and 25 different countries to the region to compete. In addition to the triathlon and Olympic distance race, events will also include a fitness expo, welcome party, sponsor and local vendor booths, free fitness clinics, a donor brunch, Kids Fun Zone, a Nautica Kids Run and Tot Trot, and an awards ceremony.

Miami Beach Gay Pride

  • Coming into its fifth year, Miami Beach Gay Pride has grown into the largest, single-day event of the entire year in Miami Beach, with this year taking place over 2 days on April 13 - 14, 2013. The hugely successful event hosted over 60,000 people in 2012 from all walks of life, all parts of the country, and all age groups. Miami Beach Gay Pride is an extraordinary two-day event that features a festival with more than 125 LGBT-friendly vendors and businesses, exciting celebrities, musical performances, refreshments, food and a family-friendly play area.

Sustainatopia 2013

  • Sustainatopia 2013 is both a festival and a conference, taking place April 16 - 22, 2013, with over 40 specific events take place during 7 days: film, art, music, eco-fashion, food, design, author series, parties and conferences. The primary focus of the event will be on creating a better world and promoting/celebrating sustainability for corporations, organizations and individuals.

8th Annual South Beach Comedy Festival

  • Now in its 8th year, this unique Miami Beach based comedy extravaganza has earned the reputation of being one of the top festivals of its kind world-wide, attracting industry professionals and loyal fans alike. Produced by event giant Live Nation, the South Beach Comedy Festival, taking place April 17 - 20, 2013, has featured top names in stand-up comedy such as Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, Lisa Lampanelli, Jeff Dunham, Jeffrey Ross, and Kevin Hart. The 2013 headliners are to be determined and will be announced at the start of the year. Performances take place in the beaches’ iconic theatres and nightclub venues with Comedy Central filming behind the scenes interviews and skits to air on the network with the focus on Miami Beach.

Miami Beach Polo World Cup IX

  • Over a period of five days, April 25 - 28, 2013, the Miami Beach Polo World Cup will bring 16 international teams from around the world to compete for ‘La Martina Trophy’ in this international polo tournament that will attract worldwide media. In addition, 8 international women’s teams will travel to Miami Beach for the South Beach Women’s Polo Cup IV. Other events are expected to include a welcome dinner and party, a fashion show, press conference, award ceremony, dinner/cocktail parties, a farewell party, and a horse parade on the beach.

15th Annual Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival

  • The 15th Annual Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (MGLFF), taking place April 26 - May 5, 2013, will feature up to 65 full length feature and short films, and audience Q&A sessions with visiting filmmakers, artists, and industry guests over 10 days. The 2013 installation will continue with a program entitled “Made in Miami” featuring local queer filmmakers. The MGLFF will be featured on Comcast “Newsmakers” generating over 1,000,000 in confirmed viewership. The MGLFF will also continue working with regional LGBT media. Events are expected to include film screenings, gala events, VIP/Industry brunches and receptions, private lunches/dinners and panel discussions and pre/post film parties.

May 2013

  • Aqua Girl
  • Aqua Girl is a 5-day event promoting the strength, health, quality, and visibility of lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women, taking place May 15 - 19, 2013.  A total of thirteen cultural events are expected to take place which will include a VIP event, bowlathon, fashion show, dance parties, a comedy show, and pool party, dine around event, tea dance, and a closing dance party.

June 2013

  • Film Life's 17th annual American Black Film Festival
  • This 4-day event, taking place June 19 - 23, 2013, is in its 17th year and is dedicated to supporting the Black Film community.  The festival is recognized internationally as the premier festival for cinema made for, by, and about persons of African descent.  This year’s events include industry panels with executives from companies such as HBO, NBC Universal, Nickelodeon, Universal Pictures, and CNN.  Other events will include educational workshops, a Founder’s Brunch, Filmmaker Reception, and Opening Night and Closing Night Parties.

July 2013

FUNKSHION: Fashion Week Miami Beach

  • Internationally known Fashion Week of Miami Beach taking place July 17 - 21, 2013, gathers the most famous international designers from around the world. During previous seasons, designers such as Tommy Hilfiger, Nicole Miller, Donna Karan, Jennifer Lopez, Betsey Johnson, Custo Barcelona, have participated in this week of fashion shows, presentations, show-rooms, music performances and afterparties. Funkshion happens three times a year, following the international fashion show calendar for greater exposure, scheduled between Paris and LA Fashion Week. Through a contract with Fashion TV multiple shows will air multiple times generating 310 million in viewership.  In addition TV Moda will produce a 1 hour TV show from Europe to be filmed during FUNKSHION and broadcasted immediately around Europe and Asia.

SwimShow

SwimShow, taking place July 20 - 23, 2013, is the largest swimwear tradeshow in the world with the added excitement of lingerie/intimates as a new category for the show. SwimShow, the first and only industry swim tradeshow in the United States, is currently the most comprehensive and sought after in the world. In addition to the four-day tradeshow at the Miami Beach Convention Center, this year's SwimShow includes a tradeshow, After Party, Seminars, Swim Lounge, Breakfast Bar, Afternoon High Tea and at least two events open to the public - a spectacular Fashion Show and a Trend Seminar.

Miami Salsa Congress

  • This event taking place over 5 full days, July 24 - 28, 2013,  has attracted over 50,000 attendees from around the world over their 11 years. There are over 15 events expected to take place to include a pre-party, kick-off party, dance instructional workshops, a tradeshow, evening parties/shows, and pool parties.

August 2013

17th Brazilian Film Festival of Miami

  • The Brazilian Film Festival of Miami, taking place August 17 - 24, 2013, has accompanied the resurgence of Brazilian Cinema. Brazil’s Ministry of Culture and the Audiovisual Secretariat recognizes the Brazilian Film Festival of Miami as a Festival that promotes market, business opportunities and cultural exchange between the US and Brazil. This emphasizes the Festival’s main objectives of providing strong platform for the commercialization, distribution and exhibition of Brazilian film within the United States and creating a successful channel to enhance cultural awareness in the US. The Festival will present approximately 40 films during the 8-day event.  Other events will include an opening night at the New World Symphony “Wall Cast” at free admission, a marketplace with seminars, and a closing award ceremony. The event will be televised through MGM Networks Latin America generating over 2 million in viewership.

XVIII International Ballet Festival of Miami

  • The 18th edition of the International Ballet Festival of Miami (IBFM), taking place August 24 - September 16, 2013, will provide a unique opportunity for audiences to see some of the world’s leading ballet companies represented by their great stars. The festival also provides a platform to present dancers and companies whose styles are as diverse as the City of Miami Beach, alongside a unique collection of the works of local artists, all in the grand celebration of dance. Events will include a dance film series, contemporary ballet performances, a grand gala performance, a closing gala of the stars performance, ballet master classes, and a past IBFM video screening.
