The MBVCA is a seven member authority, appointed by the City of Miami Beach Commission, with the goal of encouraging, developing and promoting the image of Miami Beach locally, nationally and internationally as a vibrant community and superb tourist destination. To this end, the MBVCA strategically focuses its funding investments in a balanced manner, fostering outstanding existing programs, stimulating new activities, and encouraging partnerships. The MBVCA is committed to a careful, long-term plan for allocation of resources to build the uniqueness of Miami Beach as ones of the world's greatest communities and tourism destinations.

Steve Adkins was re-appointed to the MBVCA in December 2016, after serving from 2007 to 2014. During his tenure, he served as both Vice Chair and Chair.

Steven Haas, Miami’s born and bred tastemaker, is currently the new Executive Director for Centerplate at Miami Beach Convention Center. He was previously the chair of the MBVCA from 2004 to 2008 and a board member from 2002 to 2004.

George Neary was appointed to the MBVCA in January 2020 and has created, and is currently operating, a tour company, Tours “r” Us specializing in curated tours that concentrate on the historic communities of Miami Beach, the historic Art Deco District, MiMo resort architecture; Wynwood, Miami Design District, Little Havana, Little Haiti, Downtown Miami, Historic Overtown, Coconut Grove and beyond.

Jonathan Plutzik

Jonathan Plutzik was appointed to the MBVCA in January 2020. He retired as a Vice-Chairman of Credit Suisse (CS) in 2002, after a 24-year career. His responsibilities included Chairing the firm’s global financial institutions practice, heading the firm’s Washington DC investment banking activities, and leading the firm’s practice with State and Local governments. He also led the firm’s financial advisory team that served New York City during its return to the capital markets after the financial crisis.
